Who Is Coen Before the Story Begins?

Coen is a young man living in the Vale Sangora, a 14th-century gothic kingdom in the Carpathian Mountains, during a plague that ravages the land. He lives with his father and his siblings, and the family fears for his mother above all: she suffers from an unknown neurological disorder, and her illness is what sets everything in motion. What Is a Dawnwalker?

When the vampiric transformation was attempted on Coen, it failed — but not cleanly. He survived as something in between: half-human, half-vampire. That hybrid is called a Dawnwalker, and it is both his curse and his entire toolkit:

• By day he is human: social, capable of non-violent solutions, swordplay with directional blocking and parrying, and witch magic including rune-carving to question the dead. See the day/night system guide.

Why Does Brencis Think Coen Is Dead?

The failed transformation was read as a death. Brencis — the ancient vampire who now rules the Vale Sangora with his court of followers — and his subordinate vampires all believe Coen died in the attempt. What Is Coen’s Mission?

Brencis abducts Coen’s family for a sacrifice at his investiture ceremony, one month away. The game’s entire structure flows from that deadline: 30 days and nights to save them, with time advancing only on story actions and more quests available than the calendar holds. Who Voices Coen?

Coen is played by Will De Renzy-Martin. Rebel Wolves introduced the actor in “Between the Vampires,” an official launch-week conversation published September 4, 2026, pairing De Renzy-Martin with Neil Newbon — Astarion in Baldur’s Gate 3 — to talk “fangs, acting, and everything in between” (announcement on Steam).
